Silver Spring Networks has announced its participation as a Strategic Partner at this year’s WETEX. WETEX serves as a global platform for exhibitors to showcase the latest technologies, raise corporate profiles, and promote products and services while sharing ideas and best practices with the world’s leading players in water, energy, and the environment. The event is sponsored and organized by the Dubai government, specifically by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), and with the blessings of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance, and President of DEWA.
Mr. Jorge Duarte, Business Development and Sales Director – Continental Europe and GCC Region for Silver Spring Networks, will present during WETEX on Monday, October 23 from 12:40 – 1:10 pm local time. In his presentation, “Thinking Big Picture to Achieve Major Smart Grid, Smart Water & IoT Programs,” Mr. Duarte will highlight the opportunities for Dubai and other economic hubs across the Middle East to leverage open and secure IoT platforms to accelerate innovation, help ensure interoperability, speed deployment times, and reduce the cost and risk of their critical infrastructure programs. Silver Spring Networks will also demo smart electric, smart gas, smart water, distribution automation, advanced analytics, and smart city applications such as dynamic street lighting at its WETEX booth (# SSP1) from October 23-25 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
“More than ten years ago, we chose to build upon standards-based technology because of its scalability, security, proven performance, and reliability. Today, our Industrial Internet of Things™ platform securely connects millions of devices in some of the world’s harshest conditions and topographically diverse environments.” said Mr. Duarte. “The industry is at a pivotal point right now with the IoT, as we’re seeing an increasing number solutions and applications beginning to crystalize into real-world use-cases. As tens of billions of people and devices are connected, open-standards-based networks will become a critical element for vital infrastructure and citizen services that can help the Middle East remain competitive on the global economic stage.”
“We look forward to WETEX, where we will feature our work with DEWA for its grid modernization initiative, to help transform the infrastructure underpinning Dubai to create a more sustainable and smarter future for the Emirate,” continued Mr. Duarte.
Silver Spring’s early commitment to and delivery of a standards-based networking platform has transformed the energy sector and municipalities approaches to modernizing their core infrastructure. Silver Spring has connected more than 26 million enabled devices delivered worldwide, including the establishment of a communication platform based on Silver Spring’s IPv6 multi-application Radio Frequency (RF) mesh canopy, which will help DEWA to provide smart grid applications such as smart electricity, water meter, and distribution automation.
We look forward to meeting with you in Dubai!
