Smart Grid Protocol Project

Maui Electric Company (MECO) deployed a strategic and innovative smart grid project on the Hawaiian island of Maui. The initiative, dubbed “Maui Smart Grid Project,” has demonstrated multiple smart systems technologies – ranging from distribution management to advanced metering to in-home displays – all running on the standards-based SilverLink Network Platform. Integrating renewable energy sources on the smart grid, the utility plans to power 70 percent of its services with clean energy by 2030.
