It gives me tremendous pride to say that this year Silver Spring is celebrating its 10th Anniversary as a technology pioneer and innovator. I want to begin by saying thank you to all of the employees, customers, and partners whose support, tenacity, and passion have made these first 10 years a success. But while we take pride in our accomplishments, we know this milestone marks only the beginning of our journey. Many more opportunities, challenges and successes lie ahead as we push forward on the road to a world of more efficient and sustainable energy.
To achieve that future, we at Silver Spring are committed to delivering the innovations that define smarter energy networks around the world. Our mission is to help utilities connect with their customers and unlock unprecedented value from networking every device that generates, consumes, or monitors the flow of power. We believe in building the industry’s broadest ecosystem to create a common, interoperable infrastructure for grid modernization investments, innovative new applications, and increased consumer empowerment.
Ten years ago, many thought our vision a radical one. But our unwavering commitment to open, standards-based IPv6 networks is proving to be a catalyst for the entire market. As the “father of the Internet,” Vint Cerf, recently said, Silver Spring’s “pioneering work has helped firmly establish IPv6 as the right networking foundation for massive-scale global M2M networks, of which smart grid is the first important example.” Read more >
We take the long view, and we are in this for the long haul. And thanks to the efforts of so many of you, this vision is becoming a reality. Millions of people are beginning to experience the economic and environmental benefits of smarter energy networks, and many millions more will follow. Our promise to you is that we will continue to create the technology for energy networks to perform reliably, securely and efficiently at enormous scale – because everything networked, everything connected, means a more brilliant future for all of us.
