Utility Operations
CustomerIQ is available to utilities needing to provide an energy management portal to their customers. CustomerIQ offers several key capabilities to ensure successful deployments and assist utilities with ongoing portal operations:

Robust software platform
Silver Spring hosts the CustomerIQ software within its own data centers and delivers it to utilities using a software-as-a-service (SaaS) model. This approach enables rapid deployment and minimizes the impact on the utility’s IT staff. The underlying software platform is highly secure to protect sensitive customer data, easily scales to support millions of users, and has been architected for high availability to meet strict service level requirements.

Flexible back-office integration
CustomerIQ comes pre-integrated with the Silver Spring UtilityIQ application suite, greatly reducing the amount of integration work required. Through this integration, CustomerIQ has access to all smart meter data collected by UtilityIQ Advanced Metering Manager and receives pricing and messaging events initiated by UtilityIQ Demand Response Manager. Its dynamic rate engine supports all major rate types and any fixed/variable bill surcharges, creating a compelling user experience by accurately relating usage to cost. For seamless integration with a utility’s other back-end systems, CustomerIQ has a rich data-capture interface that can tie into customer information systems (CIS) and validated meter data stored within a Meter Data Management System (MDMS).

Administrative and support tools
CustomerIQ supports the diverse groups within a utility that need access to the system. For example, utility customer service representatives can leverage portal functionality when handling customer calls. In addition, CustomerIQ provides rich reporting capabilities, enabling utilities to track and analyze customer use of the portal and its impact. These tools can help support activities such evaluation, measurement and verification (EM&V) of customer energy programs.
