Tools for the Smart Grid

To accommodate lab testing, partner OEM manufacturing, and in-field testing needs, Silver Spring has developed a set of handheld and laptop-based tools.

General tools

• Field Service Unit – a handheld device paired with numerous software tools for testing and configuration
• Handheld Configurator and Tester – in-field configuration, installation, and troubleshooting of meter Communications Modules and network devices
• Communications Tester – software that tests and collects data for troubleshooting Silver Spring Communications Modules (formerly CATT)

  

Electricity Meter Tool

• Electricity Communications Module Tester – software that pairs with the FSU to test communications on the meter Communications Module, for use in the meter shop prior to installation (formerly MANTIS)

  

Bridge Tool

• Bridge Configurator – enables utilities to configure Bridges in the field or lab

  

Gas IMU Configurator

• Gas IMU Configurator – software that offers configuration and read verification for Gas IMUs
