Event Raises over $370,000 for Larkin Street Youth Services to Help Homeless Youth Get Off San Francisco Streets
May 27, 2010 , San Francisco, CA – Last night at the Fifth Annual Bay Area CFO of the Year Awards, the 2010 winners in five award categories were announced. A sold out crowd of nearly 500 local business leaders attended the dinner and awards ceremony at the Four Seasons San Francisco to honor CFO Award finalists and winners from throughout the Bay Area. The celebration included this year’s 15 CFO finalists and winners, and recognition of Bob Wayman, retired CFO of Hewlett-Packard, this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award winner. Howard Atkins, Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Wells Fargo & Company, and a past winner himself, was the Honorary Chair of the Fifth Annual event, welcoming 16 fellow CFO of the Year winners from previous years including Lou Lavigne, formerly of Genentech; Dan Heinrich, The Clorox Company; Ken Jones, UCSF Medical Center; and Jack Jenkins-Stark of BrightSource Energy.
The event raised over $370,000 in support of Larkin Street Youth Services, which for 26 years has served homeless and at-risk youth in San Francisco through its comprehensive programs in outreach, housing, medical and social services, education, and job assistance.
“I am proud to be an ‘alum’ of the Bay Area CFO of the Year Awards and to have celebrated the Fifth Annual event as Honorary Chair. This event represents the perfect convergence of philanthropy and good business practice,” said Howard Atkins, 2007 CFO of the Year winner. “Through this event we had the privilege of honoring the past and present accomplishments of a stellar group of financial executives. And in so doing, through our support to Larkin Street Youth Services, we created opportunities for hundreds of young people to build productive, self-sufficient lives and become contributing members of this community.”
