Silver Spring Networks Comments on Third-party Report Finding 100% of Smart Meters Tested in California are Accurate

September 2, 2010, Redwood City, CA - Today, the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) announced the results of the independent testing it commissioned that was conducted by the respected utility consulting firm, Structure Consulting Group.

Silver Spring Networks is pleased that the Structure Group’s tests independently confirmed that the smart meters being installed by PG&E measure and transmit data accurately. This independent verification of smart meter accuracy is expected to help increase consumer confidence not only in the smart meters themselves, but in the entire smart grid, for which smart meters are a key element.

The findings of the nearly five-month lab and field study verify that the smart meters and the technologies comprising them meet all state standards and performance requirements. Further findings from the report give PG&E a rating of 10 out of 10 for best practice compliance with regard to meter equipment safety and manufacturing quality.
