Silver Spring Networks and Landis+Gyr Announce Smart Metering Partnership
Redwood City, CA, March 13, 2008 - Silver Spring Networks and Landis+Gyr today announced an alliance to provide an integrated smart metering solution. Landis+Gyr meters, equipped with Silver Spring Networks Network Interface Card (NIC) combine smart meter performance with end-to-end, IP-based communications.
As utilities develop their smart metering solutions, an IP-based network and IP-based communications devices will play a critical role. This is a significant announcement as it expands the range of IP-enabled meters available to utilities. Landis+Gyr joins a growing ecosystem of Silver Spring Networks partners committed to providing utility customers with a greater choice of IP-enabled Smart Energy Network devices.
We are delighted to add Landis+Gyr to our expanding ecosystem of Smart Energy Network providers, said John OFarrell, Executive Vice President of Silver Spring Networks. This agreement provides our customers with additional choices in Smart Energy Network - enabled meters. Our customers can now order meters with integrated Silver Spring Networks smart grid communications capabilities from Landis+Gyr, an international leader in metering, continued John.
Our meter platforms are robust and offer the highest level of flexibility in integration of smart grid communications allowing utilities the ability to practically customize the metering solution to fit their specific needs. This alliance with Silver Spring Networks provides an end-to-end option for a one-stop solution, said Steve Schamber, Director Product Management, Landis+Gyr Inc.
Smart Energy Network- enabled Landis+Gyr FOCUS™ AL and FOCUS AX meters will be equipped with smart grid communications capabilities at the factory, through incorporation of a Silver Spring Networks NIC. Landis+Gyr will act as the single point of contact for customer service, warranty concerns, returns and repairs. Of course, customers can also purchase the complete solution directly from Silver Spring Networks. Initial quantities will be available later this year.
