Scott Lang, CHAIRMAN, PRESIDENT AND CEO
Scott Lang, Chairman, President and CEO, joined Silver Spring Networks as the company's founding chief executive in 2004. Scott brings more than 25 years of leadership, marketing, sales and management experience in the services and utility industries. Prior to Silver Spring Networks, Scott first worked with Ross Perot at Electronic Data Systems and then joined Perot Systems in 1988, shortly after the company’s founding. During his career at Perot Systems, Scott spent 10 years in Europe building the company’s international business and went on to lead the Strategic Markets Group, which served the Global Energy, Communications, Media, and Travel and Transportation industries. Scott holds a BS in Business Administration from the University of Mississippi and was a graduate of the Advanced Executive Program from The Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
Under Scott’s leadership, Silver Spring Networks was named a 2008 World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer. In 2009, Scott was named Ernst & Young’s 2009 Entrepreneur of the Year in Northern California in the clean tech category and Responsible CEO of the Year in the Private Company category by the editors of CRO Magazine. In 2011, Scott was named the Most Admired CEO in Sustainability by the San Francisco Business Times. Scott and his wife Karen, have four daughters.
Amy Cappellanti-Wolf, CHIEF HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICER
Amy brings broad, cross-industry experience from her human resources executive roles with Cisco, Sun, Disney and Frito-Lay. Most recently, she served as VP of Human Resources at Cisco Systems, where she designed cutting-edge leadership development programs, talent identification and acquisition strategies and built the human resources roadmap for the company. Amy has a MS in Industrial and Labor Relations and a BS in Journalism and Public Relations, both from West Virginia University. Amy’s passions center around creating a sustainable planet. She and her husband Doug are involved with a foundation that is helping preserve the Amazon rain forest, having saved nearly a half million Acai palm trees to date.
Michael A. Dillon, GENERAL COUNSEL & CORPORATE SECRETARY
Michael brings over 25 years of corporate legal experience to Silver Spring Networks, most recently at Sun Microsystems. Inc where he acted as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary until the company’s sale to Oracle Corporation. At Sun, Michael was responsible for all aspects of corporate compliance, legal, export and related functions for Sun’s $14bn business. Prior to joining Sun, Michael was General Counsel of ONI Systems Corp. where he was responsible for the company's legal affairs, including the company’s initial public offering and subsequent acquisition by Ciena Corporation, security and risk management. He holds a B.A. in Communications and Sociology from the University of California, San Diego, and earned his J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law. Mike and his family obtain most of their home’s electricity from solar panels they installed.
Eric Dresselhuys, EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, GLOBAL DEVELOPMENT
Eric has been with Silver Spring Networks since it was founded in 2002 and has more than 14 years of experience in developing Smart Grid solutions to address the industry’s most pressing challenges. Eric has been instrumental to the growth of the company and currently leads the company’s global development. He has also held various leadership roles in customer development, new product development and product introductions. Eric is a frequent speaker on topics related to smart grids and energy efficiency and has served on the board of directors of the Smart Grid Consumer Collaborative (SGCC), Demand Response and Smart Grid (DRSG) Coalition and the Automatic Meter Reading Association’s (AMRA) Marketing and Development Committee. He was also the founding member of OpenAMI. Eric previously spent 9 years at Procter & Gamble in various sales and marketing roles. He holds a B.S. in economics from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
George Flammer, CHIEF SCIENTIST
George has more than 20 years of experience in software and hardware development, most recently as Director of Communications Technology at Metricom where he was a key contributor to the design and development of the Ricochet high-speed data radio product and data service. In 1998 George co-founded G3M Corporation and served as its CTO where his primary responsibility was the design and development of the Panthera product line. George joined Rosum in September 2002 as Director of Systems Engineering, where he directed multidisciplinary teams in the development of real-world indoor positioning. George earned a BS in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and has authored more than 20 domestic and international patents. George’s hybrid vehicle emits less than 400 pounds of carbon per 1000 miles. Figure yours at:

Anil Gadre, EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, PRODUCTS
Anil heads up Product Management and Product Marketing for products and services at Silver Spring Networks, including product strategy, pricing and go to market demand creation programs. Most recently he was at Sun Microsystems as General Manager of the $1 Billion software business composed of the Java platform, MySQL database and middleware. Prior to that he was the Chief Marketing Officer for Sun with responsibility for all aspects of marketing ranging from product strategy, global demand generation, to market development and partner ecosystem programs. Other experiences include roles at Apollo Computers and Hewlett Packard. Anil has a BSEE from Stanford University and an MM degree from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
Gary Gysin, EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, WORLDWIDE SALES
Gary brings more than 20 years of experience in key leadership positions driving go-to-market strategies and delivering worldwide revenue growth in highly competitive markets to his role as EVP of Worldwide Sales at Silver Spring. He has extensive cross-functional experience in both public and private start-ups, leading the development and introduction of innovative, award-winning enterprise and mid-market software and hardware infrastructure products. Most recently, Gary was an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at USVP focused on infrastructure opportunities in cloud services, networking and storage, and smart grid. Previously, he was President and CEO of Asempra Technologies, the market-leading instant recovery solution for Windows applications and data. Gary led the company from late stage development through first revenue and guided the successful sale of the company to BakBone Software in early 2009. Gary also served as Vice President of Sales and Service at McData Corporation, where he was responsible for setting and executing strategies that resulted in exponential worldwide revenue growth through the expansion of strategic partnerships, acquisitions, and customer and channel relationships. He was also Vice President of Software and General Manager Sanera/Nishan while at McData. Earlier roles include Senior Vice President of products and Vice President of product management and business development at Volera, a majority owned subsidiary of Novell. Gary has also held a variety of executive leadership roles including President and CEO of PGSoft, leading the company through five successful years culminating in the company's sale to Novell, and vice president of Sales/Marketing at Crosswise Corporation, WorldTalk and Touch Communications. Gary holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of California Santa Cruz. Gary and his family are fanatical recyclers in addition to having CFLs throughout their home.
John R. Joyce, CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER & VICE CHAIRMAN
As Chief Financial Officer and Vice Chairman, John is responsible for all aspects of Silver Spring’s financial operations and takes an active leadership role in strategy development, international growth and customer engagements. Prior to joining the Company, John had a distinguished 30-year career managing all aspects of finance and operations at IBM Corporation, where he served in a variety of capacities including Senior Vice President and Group Executive for IBM Global Services, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, and President of IBM Asia Pacific. Most recently, John spent five years as a Managing Director of Silver Lake Partners, a leading technology investment firm with over $14 billion in assets under management. He holds a BA from Montclair State University and holds an MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Don Reeves, SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, SMART GRID SERVICES
Don Reeves joined Silver Spring Networks in 2005 and brings over 20 years of experience in high-technology product development to his role as Senior Vice President of Smart Grid Services. During his time at Silver Spring, Don has led the software engineering team to develop the UtilityIQ product suite to Silver Spring’s utility customers and has provided technical and implementation leadership across all of the company’s key accounts including Florida Power and Light, Pacific Gas & Electric, Jemena, and CitiPower and Powercor Australia. Don has overall leadership for Silver Spring’s customer delivery programs globally, including field technical services, customer support and software hosting services.
Before joining Silver Spring Networks, Don served as Vice President of Engineering at Black Pearl where he managed the software development, support and services teams. Prior, Don was the Vice President of Engineering at Commerce One, where he managed the development of the company’s market-leading SRM application suite. Before that, Don managed the software development organizations at a pair of start-ups -MyTurn.com and GlobalPC- where his teams developed and delivered a highly efficient and easy-to-use alternative PC desktop and an accompanying Internet portal. Don began his career at Geoworks where he led the development teams that delivered the first Palm-equipped PDA. He received his BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley.
Ingrid Van Den Hoogen, CHIEF MARKETING OFFICER
Ingrid Van Den Hoogen brings over 20 years of marketing experience and innovation to her role as Chief Marketing Officer. Most recently, Ingrid was CMO of Plantronics, where she led all marketing initiatives for the company which included energizing the brand and their marketing. Prior to Plantronics, Ingrid was the Senior Vice President of Corporate Marketing at Sun Microsystems, where she led the global brand, advertising, communications, and marketing teams. She led key brand initiatives for Sun and Java, drove eco-responsibility and open source marketing initiatives, and held various product and strategic marketing roles throughout her tenure. In addition to her marketing experience, she was a software developer at Megatek, United Technologies and GTE Government Systems. She holds a BA in Math and Computer Science from San Jose State University. Ingrid is passionate about creating a better world for future generations by increasing energy efficiency, clean water and education for all. One way Ingrid likes to be more eco-friendly is to hop in the carpool lane and share the ride.
Raj Vaswani, CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER
Raj has been with Silver Spring since 2003, and brings more than 15 years of innovation, product development and product management experience in the Internet, software and networking industries to the Company. Prior to joining Silver Spring, Raj was an Entrepreneur in Residence with Foundation Capital. Prior to Foundation Capital, Raj served as Vice President of Engineering at Epinions.com (now shopping.com), a high-traffic consumer-oriented Web site. Previously, Raj was Senior Scientist and Director of Engineering for the @Home Network (later Excite@Home). Raj holds a MS in Computer Science from the University of Washington and a BS in EECS from the University of California at Berkeley. Raj's commitment to the environment extends to having a large Oak tree in the center of his house, although he hugs it only sporadically.
